Thora Hrafnsteinn Ornolfsdottir

Me with my camera, waiting for the perfect shot.

Greetings! I am Thora Hrafnsteinn Ornolfsdottir. I'm a Viking from Iceland in the late 900's to early 1000's AD.

Here I am pretending to be an archer. I'm not very good.

I have a little Viking tent that I love to camp in when I must camp, and I travel a lot to many events within the Kingdom. I keep my camera around at all times, and use photoshop a lot. The Unofficial Northshield Gallery has a few of my photo albums. One of my favorite aspects of the SCA is the fact that it draws interesting, diverse, and dynamic people, and I love meeting them and hanging out at the end of the day with a Guinness to have great conversations with people I'd never get to meet otherwise.

The Shire of Noiregarde went full status at Quest for Camelot, 2006.

I also love learning, and there are many opportunities to learn from people. I am interested in most aspects of A&S from all periods and cultures. I have illuminated and calliged scrolls, made some simple garb, made shoes, created site tokens, worked on my period encampment - an on-going project, done wood and bone and stone carving, embroidered, made bags, written songs, and dabbled in forging, and making glass beads. My next project will be making parchment. I would like to learn leather tooling, more about early period clothing, more about forging, and more about illumination and calligraphy.

Talking with the new Baron and Baroness of Caer Anterth Mawr.

I've been in the SCA for about 9 years. I've been an Event Steward, Chronicler, and Seneschal. By far, the most rewarding office I held was Seneschal in which I learned a ton about the SCA and how wonderful the Shire of Schattentor really is. It was a humbling experience.
