Photography
At age 11, I went on a school trip to Yosemite National Park. My parents bought me a cheap Kodak 110 for the trip. This was my first "real" camera, and I was delighted. The times have changed since then, and armed with a new digital camera, I am exploring the brand new frontier of digital photography, and the seemingly endless possibilities. I am fascinated with the components that make up a whole, and like to focus on the details - especially the beauty of light on water. Often, I am far more interested in a brick that is of a slightly different color than the rest, than I am in the entire building. While the digital age makes mass production much easier, in most cases, when a person purchases a piece, no more copies of that image are ever made to sell to anyone else. In this way, I am able to stay true to my overall philosophy that mass-production takes something away from the intimacy of art, and from the relationship between the buyer and the artist. I do not allow my integrity in this matter to greatly affect my prices, and my photography is very affordable. |
