"Broken Pieces" 2008

At age 11, Andrea Potts went on a school trip to Yosemite National Park. Her parents bought her a cheap Kodak 110 for the trip. This being her first 'real' camera, she was delighted, and has enjoyed photography ever since. Armed with a new digital camera, she is exploring the brand new frontier of digital photography, and the seemingly endless possibilities. She is fascinated with the components that make up a whole, and likes to focus on the details. Often, she is far more interested in a brick that is of a slightly different color than the rest, than she is in the entire building. Each photo she sells is unique in that only one print is made of each image. In most cases, when a person purchases a piece, no more copies of that image are ever made to sell to anyone else. In this way, she is able to stay true to her overall philosophy that mass-production takes something away from the intimacy of art, and from the relationship between the buyer and the artist. She does not allow her integrity in this matter to greatly affect her prices, and her photogoraphy is very affordable.
